Residents are reminded to help ensure sweeping is effective and efficient by keeping the roadways clear of parked vehicles and any other obstruction. Unfortunately due to general uncertainty in future conditions, we cannot provide more detail with respect to the local routes that will be swept each day. We anticipate that the sweeping will be completed by April 24th. Crews may be sweeping between dawn and dusk.

THAT Council hereby declares that the meeting held at 5:00 p.m. on March 23, 2020 is to be closed to the public and that the basis of this closure is that the item(s) on the agenda of this meeting comply with the following closed meeting criteria specified in Section 90 of the Community Charter:
Please be aware that all public playgrounds and parks within the City of Prince Rupert (including local School District locations) are now closed. Close contact and sanitation limitations of these public spaces present too high a risk under the current Provincial Order for social distancing and hygiene practices. As per this Order, everyone is currently being asked to limit activities outside their home.

The City of Prince Rupert has been closely following the rapidly-evolving situation with the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. The City of Prince Rupert is committed to ensuring that we respond appropriately and in accordance with the advice and guidance issued by the Office of the Provincial Health Officer and the B.C. Centre for Disease Control.
The City of Prince Rupert is working with BC Transit to provide free bus service within Prince Rupert for the next 30 days – effective tomorrow, March 20th until Friday April 17th, 2020. Riders are asked to board buses according to the direction of bus drivers, and to follow all protocols suggested by health authorities regarding social distancing, hand-washing, staying home if you are sick, and other measures.
MARCH 19th, 2020 - Please be advised that in the interests of the health of the community and our staff, the City’s Operations Department is moving to essential service provision measures starting at 4:30 pm today. Essential services are the minimum services required to maintain health and safety in the community. The Operations Department will reduce and rotate its staffing to provide safe work environments and uninterrupted service.
March 19th, 2020 – Following today’s announcement regarding the cancellation of Air Canada flights to Prince Rupert during the month of April, the Prince Rupert Airport Authority and the City of Prince Rupert would like to let the community know that essential airport services such as access for emergency medical evacuations, runway maintenance, and our ability to receive supplies will continue to be maintained.
